Snodgrass Leads Eagles Reverse Sweep
Goshen, IN – Judson University men's volleyball picked up a hard-fought road victory Tuesday night, outlasting Goshen in five sets (27–29, 24–26, 25–22, 25–20, 15–11) at the Ruth Gunden Gymnasium.
When the Eagles and Maple Leafs meet, wild things happen. In three of the last four meetings, the match has gone to five sets. On Tuesday, JU prevailed in a high octane reverse sweep after they dropped the first to sets of the night.
The win was fueled by a historic performance from Mason Snodgrass, who tied the Judson school record for most kills in a single match, finishing with 31 kills on a .333 hitting percentage. The 31 kills was set back in 2018 by Manny Andrade. Snodgrass was the focal point of the Eagles' offense all night, delivering timely swings in every set and closing the match with authority in the decisive fifth.
Judson dropped the first two sets in tight fashion, falling by a combined four points, but showed resilience to flip the momentum. The Eagles responded with their most efficient attacking effort of the night in set three, hitting .393, before locking in defensively over the final two frames.
Alongside Snodgrass, Reece Thompson added 12 kills, while Grant Shipley chipped in five kills and seven block assists at the net.
Judson finished with 18 total team blocks, disrupting Goshen's attack when it mattered most. Mikey Noettl contributed across the board with nine points, including three service aces, while Adrian Martinez and Gabriele Cantrell helped guide the offense to 60 total assists
In the fifth set, Judson raced out to an early lead and never looked back, with Snodgrass recording multiple kills down the stretch to seal the comeback win.
The victory moves Judson to 3–1 on the season, continuing a strong early stretch as the Eagles build momentum heading deeper into their schedule. The Eagles next match takes place on Saturday afternoon when they travel to fellow NCCAA foe, Bethel.
