Elgin, IL - For the fourth straight game, the Eagles have allowed nothing on the scoreboard. And on this afternoon, they were able to punch in four goals of their own to win going away 4-0 over the Calumet Crimson Wave.
Judson got a pair of early goals in the first half. And a pair of goals late in the second half to really seal things on this day. The Eagles controlled and dictated the pace all game long against the Crimson Wave.
Just six minutes in, Araceli Romero-Molina had a ball seemingly roll forever that found the back of the net for her first goal of the season. In the 14th minute, it was a strike from Anika Elgin to get her in the goal-scoring column for the second time this year.
The Eagles controlled the shots in this game 16-2 in the first half, and 19-3 in the second half. The majority of Calumet's shots were from long range, as JU was really able to keep the front of the net closed for business.
In the second half, Liza Von Blumenthal got her third goal of the season. Of the team's 35 shots, Von Blumenthal had a team high seven of them. She was bound to get one through before the day was done.
To close out the scoring, Maria Luisa Rubio scored on a penalty kick to make it 4-0.
Prior to the game, co-captain Eva Fernandez was named CCAC player of the week on defense. Fernandez had a light day at the office today, facing just three shots, and stopping them all.
The Eagles are now 4-6-1 overall, and 3-3-1 in conference play. They have five regular season games left. At the moment, JU has climbed into the middle of the pack in the conference standings.
Judson will play next Friday night at Governors State.
