Eagles Win On Senior Day
Barrington, IL - The Judson University Eagles took on Olivet Nazarene University on Saturday at the South Barrington Tennis Club. The Eagles were excited for the match, which also served as a celebration honoring five men's seniors and one women's senior. It was a wonderful turnout, with many supporters in attendance and celebrations throughout the day, creating a special atmosphere for the final home match of the season.
The Judson women entered the competition determined to secure a victory after a challenging season. Doubles play began with a strong performance from Erin Jacobs and Charlie Stirling at the No. 1 position, as they dominated their opponents in a commanding 6-0 win.
At No. 2 doubles, Carla Guerrero and Ruth Hernandez battled hard but fell 3-6, while Anna Illyes and Mackenzie Meland lost 2-6 at the No. 3 spot. These results meant the Eagles dropped the doubles point, with Olivet taking a 1-0 lead heading into singles play.
The Eagles responded with an outstanding showing in singles. Erin Jacobs set the tone at No. 1 with an impressive 6-1, 6-0 victory, followed by Charlie Stirling's flawless 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2.
Carla Guerrero continued the momentum at No. 3, securing a decisive 6-2, 6-0 triumph. Ruth Hernandez delivered the clinching point at No. 4 with a strong 6-2, 6-3 performance.
At No. 6, senior Anna Illes competed with determination but fell 0-6, 0-6, while Mackenzie Meland was trailing 2-4 at No. 5 when her match was called.
The Eagles secured a 4-2 overall victory, marking a memorable conclusion to their home season. With the men's team also earning a 4-2 win, it was a special and celebratory day for Judson Tennis.
The Eagles now look ahead to their next challenge at University of St. Francis.
