CCAC CHAMPIONS: Judson Wins at IIT, 4-1

CHICAGO, Ill. – It was a night to remember in Chicago for the Judson University women's soccer team as they clinched their first-ever CCAC regular season championship with a 4-1 victory over Illinois Institute of Technology. Angela Bianchi broke out a career night with three goals spurring Judson to their 15thwin which ties the program record for wins in a season.
Jenna Steffensen and Bianchi teamed up for back-to-back goals just under three minutes a part in the first half to put Judson ahead, 2-0. Steffensen made it 1-0 in the 17thminute with a shot from 18 yards out. Three minutes later, Bianchi collected her first of three goals with a shot to the right side of the net on an assist from Steffensen.
Illinois Tech put themselves within one in the 36thminute as Marit Tundal sailed in a shot from 28-yards out.
Bianchi put the game in the bag in the second half with goals in the 68thand 90thminutes. Her second goal came on a break away with a one-on-one with the goalie as she booted it into the right side of the net. Just before the match ended, she made it a hat trick with her third goal to the right net.
Judson out shot Illinois Tech, 20-10, and had seven corner kicks to their five corner kicks. Sara Hoffman ended with five saves as she six shots on goal and 10 overall shots.
Judson will now be the #2 seed in the CCAC Tournament as they tied with Olivet Nazarene for the CCAC regular season championship. Olivet Nazarene will receive the #1 seed because they have the tiebreaker with the 1-0 win over Judson earlier this week. Judson will play next Saturday, November 5th, with the opponent and time to be announced later.
