Women's Soccer Earns 9th Shutout of the Year
#22 Judson 2, Cardinal Stritch 0 - Box
ELGIN, Ill. – Scoring all the goals they would need in the first 12 minutes of the match, #22 Judson University earned their ninth shutout in 14 matches over Cardinal Stritch University (3-10/2-5), 2-0. Judson now has a 12-match unbeaten streak and is the only CCAC team left undefeated in the conference.
The defense had a stellar day only allowing one Cardinal Stritch shot on goal in the first half. Sara Hoffman (Algonquin, Ill.) now has eight shutouts on the year and a 0.44 goals against average.
Jenna Steffensen (Canada) continued her scoring streak by putting Judson on the board in the eighth minute. Angela Bianchi (Elmhurst, Ill.) played a ball into the middle of the box to Steffensen as she then tapped it past the goalie. Steffensen has now scored in seven straight contests.
Angie Gonzalez (Harvard, Ill.) netted her first goal of the year in the 12th minute from Bianchi and Priscilla Jara (Huntley, Ill.). Gonzalez had a quick kick in the box that hit the wind and curved into the right side of the net.
Judson took 14 shots with six on goal in the match and had 12 corner kicks to Cardinal Stricth's one.
Judson travels to Palos Heights, Ill., on Wednesday for a NAIA Top 25 matchup against Trinity Christian at 4:00 p.m.
