Eagles Magical Season Ends At Sectionals
Elgin, IL - This past weekend the Judson Eagles competed at the ITC Sectionals event in Fort Worth, Texas. The Eagles are normally slotted in the Addison region, so the unexpected change to the Lone Star state was a burst of excitement for the squad.
For the women's team, in basketball bracket terms, the Eagles were rated the #1 seed in the Texas region coming into the event based on their outstanding performances all season long.
On the Ladies Varsity side, this team finished 6th and almost was able to overcome a 220 pin deficit to advance to Nationals. They came up 88 pins shy of a return trip back to Las Vegas for the National tournament with the top four teams qualifying for spots.
The Lady Eagles were able to climb the mountain all the way back to be tied for 4th in game 62 of the event but weren't able to get over the top and finished 6th overall.
In set 1 on Saturday they we had high games of 209, 203, 202, and 223 to be in 9th place. Heading into set 2 on Saturday we then had high games of 213, 220, 222, and 237 to finish day 1 in 8th place 220 pins from the 4th place advancers cut line. Day 2 brought some improvement and this team started to climb back into contention. Set 3 brought high games of 231,224, 223, 201, 224, 201, and 213 which moved us to 8th but cut the deficit to 89 pins to the cutline.
The last set on Sunday started strong with games of 200 and 224, and led to a big game 62 of 226 which put us in a tie for 4th place with 2 games to go. Fighting with all we had we came up a bit short finishing 6th overall. Led by Junior Madison Davenport who struck 51% of the time on the weekend and was 71% on multipins as well as an overall fill % of 84%. Senior Paige Carpenter was solid on spares as she was 92% on single pins and 71% on multipins on the weekend. Senior Kyley Olson was 89% on single pins and 67% on multipins, Sophomore Payten Kusilek who anchored the team for a portion of the event struck 44% on the time on the weekend and was 60% on multipins.
Freshman Jenna Pitts came off the bench and performed well in going 70% on multipins, Sophomore Cassidy Davenport struck 36% of the time on the weekend, Freshman Joss Collins and Sophomore Piper Ennett were 100% on single pins combined for the weekend.
Even though the season didn't end as we wanted, this team put up some historic numbers with (5) 1st place finishes and (4) 2nd place finishes on the season! In additon, the Lady Eagles were ranked as high as the number one team in the NAIA for a few weeks which is an extraordinary achievement.
We also want to take a moment to thank the following graduating Seniors from who competed in their last event as Eagles. To Paige Carpenter, Eric Roberts, and Kyley Olson we want to thank you for your hard work, commitment, and dedication to our Judson Eagles Bowling Family. The 3 of you have been nothing but class and you will be missed by all. We want to wish you the absolute best in your futures, and you will always be a part of our family! We know all 3 of you are going to do amazing things in your futures and we pray that God blesses you throughout!
This concludes the 2025-26 season for the Judson Eagles Bowling Program. It may be the end of the season, but it is just the beginning for our graduating seniors as well as next seasons incoming class of talented and high character players into our program. God continues to pour into our program, and we ask that he continue to bless us and lead us. I Pray we continue to surrender to what he wants for this team! Lord, I pray we lean into our core values of Christ first and our pillars of grateful, humble, discipline, and consistency in everything we do.
