Defending Champs Compete At Hoosier Classic
Indianapolis, IN - This past weekend the Judson Eagles competed at the Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, IN.
On the Ladies Varsity side, this team had a solid performance finishing 14th overall in over 65 of the top teams in the country! The Eagles came into the tournament ranked as the #1 NAIA team, and the defending champions of the prestigious event.
On Saturday, the team came out solid with a 967 game but then ran into some struggles the following 3 games then finishing strong with a 976 game 5 to finish in 23rd place after day 1.
On Day 2 in the Baker portion of the event the team came of the gate on fire shooting games of 185, 197, 205, 256, and 244 to catapult us from 23rd to 11th only 71 pins from the cutline of the top 8. Set 2 was solid but we weren't able to cut into the deficit and was out by 81 pins heading into the final 5 games.
In set three things just weren't going our way and we had a high game of 190 in that set so we finished overall in 14th place but was encouraged from Sundays performance moving up 9 spots from the end of Saturday!
Led by Junior Standout Madison Davenport who averaged 199 on the weekend and struck 56% of the time on Saturday and was 80% on single pins on Sunday! Sophomore standout Payten Kusilek continues to bowl very well as she averaged 194 on the weekend with a 90% single pin percentage, 74% multi pin percentage and struck 46% of the time on the weekend! Freshman standout Jenna Pitts was a major contributor as she averaged 194 off the bench for her 3 games and was a stellar 91% on single pins and 90% on multipins on the weekend.
Senior Paige Carpenter put up a 187 average and was 88% on single pins and 70% on multi pins for the event. Junior Cassidy Davenport had another solid performance as she averaged 174 on the weekend but put up a fantastic 47% strike percentage on Sunday as well as 90% on single pins on Sunday.
Sophomore Piper Ennett contributed off the bench on Saturday and was 100% on fill percentage on Sunday and freshman Joss Collins was a major part of the teams energy throughout the event!
This team finished the regular season Ranked #4 on the USBC Power Rankings!
Now we wait for the Sectionals Selection show this Wednesday February 18th at 6pm Central time to see what location we will compete at to try and make the National Championships in April!
