Eagles Record Personal Best At Brunswick Classic
Sterling Heights, MI - This past weekend the Judson Eagles competed at the TIER 1 Brunswick Midwest Collegiate Classic tournament in Sterling Heights, MI.
On the Ladies Varsity side, this team stayed red hot having the highest seeding finish at a Tier 1 event in program history finishing 2nd only 41 pins off the title! This was a total team effort as the ladies started strong with a 946 game 1 that due to a power outage took 3 ½ hours to complete!
After starting at 8:30am the power went out in the 10th frame of game 1 with our 4th and 5th bowlers still needing to bowl. We then had a 3 ½ hour wait for the power to come back on to complete the Saturday portion of the event. This ended up being roughly an 11 hour competition day for our Lady Eagles! No power outage was stopping this team as off the long break the team put up a top 5 all time game of 1105 with games of 222 (Paige Carpenter), 209 (Payten Kusilek), 235 (Cassidy Davenport), 227(Kyley Olson), and 212 (Madison Davenport). This put us in 1st place after 2 games out of the 42 team tier 1 event and we ended up finishing day 1 strong and in 4th place.
Day 2 of Baker Competition was again solid while grinding through the first 3 sets in the last set of the day we put up a big 842 4 game set which took us from 4th to 2nd to finish the overall seeding. That baker set included games of 203, 208, 201, and 231 to actually place us with the 2nd highest overall baker total of the tournament as well! Heading into bracket play we faced Cumberland and came up a bit short in the 3 game best of 3 baker match.
Notable stats for the Weekend Senior Kyley Olson led the team in average at 196.5 and was 80% on single pins and 84% on multipins and struck 42% of the time. Junior Madison Davenport had another solid performance averaging 192 and struck a fantastic 52% of the time on the weekend. Sophomore Cassidy Davenport was an incredible 16 of 16 for 100% on single pins for the weekend while she averaged 192.
