Eagles Dominant In Debut
Rockford, IL - This past weekend the Judson Eagles kicked off the season at the Golden Eagle Invite in Rockford, IL.
On the Ladies Varsity side, this team had one of the most dominating performances in school history winning the event by 560 pins over 2nd place!
Heading into matchplay as the number 1 seed we got to the final but fell short to St Ambrose 3-1 in the best of 5 matches. Led by Senior Paige Carpenter who was the Tournament MVP with games of 184,215, 243, 214, and 190! She was also fantastic on single pins at 92% and Multipins at 88% as well as a strike percentage of 56% on the weekend.
Junior Madison Davenport made her Judson Debut in a big fashion placing 3rd overall in the event for her 1st All-Tournament team as an Eagle. Madison averaged 197 on the weekend with games of 182, 182, 222, 186, and 213. She was also 84% on multipins and struck 45% of the time. Sophomore Cassidy Davenport also had a stellar debut as an Eagle as she finished 9th overall averaging 180 for the weekend while striking nearly 40% of the time.
Freshman standout Jenna Pitts started her Judson career with a bang as she came off the bench in game 5 with a 209 game to give us a big lift. Jenna also was amazing on her spare game going 93% on single pins (team lead) and 77% on multipins and finished with an overall fill percentage of 86%!!
Senior Kyley Olson also was super solid on the weekend going 77% on single pins and 64% on multipins and Payten Kusilek was also solid as she came off the bench in game 4 with a 189 game as well as was 71% in multipins!
What a start to the season for this squad!
On the Ladies JV side we were also the number 1 seed at the event by over 120 pins!
Heading into the bracket final the team showed a ton of heart in bouncing back from a 2-1 deficit in the baker games to force a game 5. In game 5 they just came up a bit short and ended with a 2nd place finish! Led by Junior Katelyn Kiefer who averaged 172 on Saturday and struck 38% of the time!
Freshman Standout Joss Collins had a super Solid debut as she put up a big 192 in game 4 and was 2nd high average on this team at 163 and struck nearly 33% of the time for the weekend. Sophomore Piper Ennett had solid numbers and was the emotional leader of the team. She she was 53% on multipins and anchored the day for the Lady Eagles on Saturday. Sophomore Izabel Krajecki was stellar on her single pins going 87% on the weekend.
Freshman Standout Breana Saunders was solid in her debut as she struck almost 36% of the time. Sophomore Alexis Vande Kolk was also solid as she converted some amazing spares on Sunday to keep the momentum going!
The success of this squad bodes well our the future and we see bright things ahead!
