Eagles Post High Marks At Cougar Invite
River Forest, IL - The Eagles took part in the Cougar Classic over the weekend held at Concordia Illinois. A few Eagles found their names not only in the first place position, but also made their way into the school record books for their top times.
In the 100m event, freshmen Edward Young continued his strong first season with a first place finish in the event with a time of 10.85. Elijah Nixon and Ian Wiggan also placed in the top 13 for the event. Wiggan also finished in 8th place for the 200m event with a time of 22.66.
Young was back at it in the 400 meter race with a seventh place finish with a time of 52.21.
In the long distance events, David Peterson finished in second place in the 1500 meter event with a time of 4:06.09, while Ricardo Duran was second in the 3000 meter race. Along with Peterson, JU's other highly decorated long distance runner, Chase Porsche had a top time of 32:44.31 in the 10,000 meter event. Porsche now owns a total of four school records, two in indoor competitions, and two in outdoor competitions.
In the 4 x 400 relay, the team of Gabe Laval, Danny Troncoso, Machi Barr, and Wendell Singleton had a time of 3:28.65. That time is the second fastest outdoor time for the program, narrowly missing the time of 3:28.61 set in 2016.
For Troncoso, he bested the field in the Javelin throw with a high mark of 49.21 meters. He did that on his third throw. That distance is now second best for outdoor competitions within the program.
Judson will look to carry these good showings over to next week when they compete in the CCAC conference outdoor championships.
