Cisneros Places Eighth in Olympic Racewalk Trials
Springfield, OR Anali Cisneros had the opportunity to pursue her career-long dream of reaching the Olympics in the 20K racewalk on Saturday. Anali finished as one of the top eight racewalkers in the country. While she did not qualify for the Olympics, she did race very well.
"I am so proud of Anali and so grateful to be a part of her journey as an athlete," said Director of Track & Field and Athletic Director Joel Popenfoose. "She is such a tremendous person. To finish in the top eight against the best in the country is a staggering achievement. She continues to inspire us with her relentless work ethic and her competitive drive.
Cisneros' performance was consistent as she stayed between sixth and eighth place throughout the entire competition. After a first kilometer time of 5:37, Cisneros put together seven consecutive sub-5:20 kilometers to put her at a time of 46:38. Cisneros would post splits in the 5:20s-5:40s during the back half of the race. Cisneros did finish strongly with 5:45 and 5:41 km splits, which were improvements from her previous kilometer.
"The entire Judson University community is proud of Anali for her amazing accomplishments," said Judson University Executive Vice President Nikki Fennern. "She was a great representative of Judson as a student-athlete and continues to be so as one of the best race walkers in the country."
The entire Judson athletic department extends congratulations to Anali for her outstanding effort.
