Field Events Shine At Carroll Pioneer Invite
Waukesha, Wis.
On a blustery afternoon at Carroll University, the Judson field event athletes recorded a number of top performances. All-American Dan Becker won the Pole Vault event, clearing 4.53m (14-10 1/4). It was an impressive performance on a cold day as Becker went out at the National Qualifying "B" standard height. Andrew Allen set another JU record in the Hammer, finishing 3rd with a toss of 49.61m (162-09). Allen also recorded a strong finish in the Discus with a throw of 40.23m (132-00). Kyle Jacobson threw 12.73m (41-9 1/4) to finish 8th in the Shot Put while Jordan Bracero recorded a 5th place finish in the Javelin with a throw of 40.65m (133-04). The Judson Men scored in every throwing event Saturday. On the track, Isabel Hindt lowered her 100m hurdle record for the second consecutive week. Hindt placed 6th in the short hurdle race running 16.05. Marie Mayer ran 76.88 in the 400m hurdles in her debut in the long hurdle race. Mayer's time was good for 8th place. The Women's 4 x 100 Meter Relay team of Reaganne Graff, Hindt, Olivia Wegener and Nikki Dobson finished in 6th place, running 53.41.
"This was a tough day, weather-wise, but our athletes put together some impressive performances," said Joel Popenfoose, director of cross country/track & field. "Cold weather makes it a difficult to grip the pole but Becker was outstanding today in the vault."
The Eagles compete Tuesday at the Wheaton College Don Church Twilight Meet.
