Eagles Pick Up Senor Day Win
Barrington, IL - The Judson University men's tennis team honored its graduating class in spectacular fashion this past weekend, securing a decisive 4-2 victory over conference rival Olivet Nazarene University (ONU).
The Senior Day atmosphere at the home courts provided the perfect backdrop for a gritty performance that improved the Eagles' conference record to 2:1. Judson established dominance early during doubles play, asserting control on the lower courts to snatch the opening point. Joshua Bavich and Brock Dawson were in peak form at the No. 2 position, dismantling their opponents with a clinical 6-1 win.
The momentum stayed with the Eagles at the No. 3 spot, where Nicolas Donoso and Julius Fortun displayed excellent chemistry to secure a 6-3 victory and clinch the doubles advantage. The top-flight match involving Florian Koppitsch and Brayden Kopp remained unfinished at 4-5 as the Eagles turned their focus toward singles.
The transition to singles competition saw the Eagles maintain their aggressive pace. Joshua Bavich delivered a nearly flawless performance at the No. 4 spot, surrendering only a single game in a 6-0, 6-1 rout.
Julius Fortun mirrored this efficiency at the No. 5 position, winning 6-1, 6-2. The clinching moment came from Nicolas Donoso at No. 3 singles, who remained composed throughout a 6-2, 6-2 win.
On the top courts, Brayden Kopp fought through a grueling three-set battle before falling 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, while Javier Sanchez dropped a tight 4-6, 5-7 contest.
Brock Dawson was also on the verge of another win, leading 6-2, 5-1 when play was halted.
With this crucial victory in the books, the Eagles now look ahead to maintaining their conference surge as they prepare to face St. Francis next Sunday.
