Mishawaka, IN - The Judson University men's tennis team put up a spirited fight on the road against Bethel, but came up just short in a 4–3 loss.
Bethel grabbed the early advantage by taking two of the three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. At No. 1, Joshua Bavich and Brayden Kopp fell 6–1, while at No. 3, Florian Koppitsch and Brock Dawson dropped a tight 6–4 decision.
Judson answered at No. 2, where Cesar Otondo Villafan and Nicolas Donoso teamed up for a 6–3 victory, however it was not enough to prevent Bethel from earning the opening point.
In singles, Donoso kept his momentum rolling at the top spot, rallying for a 4–6, 6–1, 10–7 win to level the match. Bavich followed with a commanding 6–0, 6–4 win at No. 2, and Javier Sanchez added another point at No. 4 with a 6–2, 6–1 victory.
Bethel claimed the other courts, however. Koppitsch fell 6–2, 6–2 at No. 3, while Kopp dropped a narrow 6–2, 7–6 contest at No. 5. Julius Fortun wrapped up play at No. 6, falling 6–1, 6–1.
The close battle ended with Bethel edging Judson 4–3.
Judson will return to action on October 11th against Roosevelt in what will be the Eagles' final match of the fall season.
