Marion, IN - Judson opened up its doubleheader on Saturday afternoon with a tightly contested battle against Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Indiana. The Eagles came ready to compete, pushing the Wildcats to the brink before ultimately falling 4–3 in a match that came down to the very last court.
The match began with doubles, where Judson struck first. Nicolas Donoso and Cesar Otondo Villafan teamed up for a strong 6–3 win at No. 3 doubles to give the Eagles early momentum. Despite the effort, Indiana Wesleyan secured victories at the top two positions to take the doubles point.
In singles play, the Eagles quickly showed their resilience. At No. 1 singles, Florian Koppitsch fell to Indiana Wesleyan's top player, Mattheus Lima. But Judson answered with wins across the lineup. Javier Sanchez delivered in dramatic fashion at No. 4 singles, taking a super tiebreak to secure his match. Julius Fortun followed with another clutch performance at No. 5, also sealing victory in a deciding super tiebreak to bring the Eagles level.
Cesar Otondo Villafan added another point for Judson with a straight-sets win at No. 6 singles, keeping the team right in the mix. At No. 3 singles, however, Joshua Bavich came up short after a competitive three-set battle, leaving the overall score tied at 3–3 with just one match remaining.
That left everything riding on No. 2 singles, where Nicolas Donoso battled in a marathon against Michail Klinkov. After splitting two tense tiebreak sets, the match came down to a decisive super tiebreak. Despite Donoso's fight, Indiana Wesleyan was able to claim the clinching point, closing out the 4–3 decision.
Although Judson fell just short in the opener, the Eagles' performance highlighted their depth and composure under pressure, setting the stage for their second match of the day against Anderson University.
