Eagles Tennis Off To 3-0 Start Ahead Of Spring Trip
Park Forest, IL - The Judson University Men's Tennis team travelled to Park Forest, IL to battle a strengthened Prairie State team. The Eagles stumbled early giving Prairie state their lone point of the day with the highlight of these being (Joshua Bavich/Julius Fortun) winning at #2 doubles 6-4.
The Eagles bounced back early at #3 singles with (Joshua Bavich) cruising to a 6-3 6-0 win. This was further compiled with convincing wins from the German pair #4 (Julius Fortun) 6-2 6-4 and #6 (Niel Hentrich) 6-2 6-3. Continuing the Eagles momentum was #2 (Chadd Kerrigan) winning a well fought singles 6-3 6-2 to seal the match for the Eagles.
Other highlights came from #1 (Alexandre Veltkamp) battling a 7-5 6-4 victory against promising freshman Nick Velders. #5 (Cesar Otondo Villafan) rounded out the day with a 3-6 6-3 10-6 win against Marko Djukic bringing him a debut win for the Eagles.
Head Coach Dan Dehaan commented after the players performance, "Proud of these boys in today's effort, maintaining positivity after losing the doubles point. Hopefully the boys can carry this momentum into Florida."
The Eagles Tennis Team will fly to Florida on the 3rd of March for a series of challenging matches that will prove to be an extreme test for them. Highlighted in the spring trip are matches against NAIA ranked Southeastern, and Division 1 College of Charleston.
