Elgin, IL - On Saturday afternoon, the Eagles men's team celebrated their senior day. JU celebrated in a big way as they defeated the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees 6-0.
Judson got two goals in the first half to get out to an early lead against the Bees. The first came from co-captain Gabriel Uno, good for his second of the year. On the goal, Uno was set up by Danail Mihaylov. The duo reversed the trick for the second goal of the game in the 28th minute. Mihaylov put in his team leading 6th goal of the season off the assist from Uno.
In the second half, the Eagles were able to add on, and keep the pressure on the Bees. Four more shots found the back of the net for JU.
Inigo Capellan put in two goals, one assists by Mihaylov, the other unassisted. That is now five goals on the year for Capellan, all in the last four games played.
Goals #5 and #6 of the afternoon were both put in by Fernando Nkumah who now has three goals on the year.
Judson would be on cruise control as the Bees were able to mount just one shot on goal, and 11 total shots.
With the win, JU is now 5-6-5 overall and 4-1-3 in conference play.
The Eagles now enter the final week of the regular season with matches at Holy Cross on Tuesday, and hosting Viterbo on Saturday. The match against Holy Cross is a critical one for the conference standings. Both teams have 15 points, with the winner having the inside track on the #4 seed.
Before the game, Judson recognized five players on senior day. Brayan Casanas, Joaquin Landa, Erik Morales, Inigo Capellan, and Ruben Ledesma.
