Joliet, IL - After a full week of rest, and an uncharacteristic result, the Eagles were back in conference play, and back in the win column in a big way on Saturday.
Judson traveled to St. Francis for a Saturday night CCAC contest. However, the game did not get off on the right foot as St. Francis got a goal just three minutes into the game.
The Eagles were able to bounce back, and get a goal in the ninth minute by Mateo Vadora to tie things up. Vadora's first goal of the season was assisted by Anthony Cordova and Inigo Capellan.
Judson did not stop there as they were able to knock in three more first half goals to take a commanding lead.
Just two minutes after Vadora, Capellan found the back of the net himself. Then, in the 28th minute it was Cordova getting his turn with a goal off assists from Gabriel Uno, and Danail Mihaylov.
Just 90 second later, Capellan blasted in his second goal of the night off an assists from Mark Leavy. The Eagles took a 4-1 lead into halftime.
After the initial rush by the Saints, the game became all Judson in this contest. They led the first half shots 9-4, and in the second half, JU did not allow a single shot on goal, controlling things 8-0 in that department.
Of those eight second half shots, two more found the back of the net for goals number 5 and 6 on the night.
Enrique Duque Tadeo got his first goal of the year, and Javier Roca added the final tally in the 73rd minute.
With the win, Judson is now 4-5-5 overall, and 3-0-3 in conference play. The Eagles have four regular season matches remaining. JU currently sits in fifth place in the conference standings.
Judson's next match figures to be a good one. On Wednesday October 22nd, the Eagles will host Olivet Nazarene. Olivet is currently in first place in the standings, and these two teams are the only teams not to have a conference loss next to their name.
The Eagles will also host St. Ambrose next Saturday for the men's senior day recognition game.
