Rafa Heck Named Interim Head Men's Soccer Coach
Elgin, IL—The Judson University Athletic Department has announced that Rafa Heck will be the Interim Head Men's Soccer Coach for the 2018 season.
Heck has been an assistant coach for both the Judson University men's and women's soccer programs for the past seven seasons. During that time, the Eagles soccer programs have made a combined five NCCAA National Championship Appearances, two NAIA National Tournament appearances, and a CCAC Regular Season Championship.
The Sao Paulo, Brazil native played for Judson in the 2009 and 2010 seasons after transferring from Oklahoma Baptist University. In his two seasons as an Eagle midfielder, Heck scored 15 goals and added 12 assists. He graduated from Judson University in 2011 with a degree in Exercise and Sports Science and also completed his Master's degree in Organizational Leadership and Business Administration at Judson.
"Rafa has been around the Judson soccer program for many years now and is a great person to lead our men's soccer team in transition," said Director of Athletics Chad Gassman. "Coach Heck is a knowledgeable student of the game and connects well with the athletes. I am happy to give him his first opportunity of being a head coach."
He has coached many youth teams and soccer camps in a variety of countries including Brazil, Italy, Canada, and the United States. Heck also holds multiple United States Soccer Federation Licenses and has been very active participating in soccer coaching conventions over the years.
