Eagles Fall On Senior Day
Elgin, IL - After a slow start that saw the Cougars jump out to a 21-0 lead, the Eagles found a way to hang in the game on Saturday afternoon. The game against St. Xavier marked the final home game of the season for Judson, and also senior day for 11 players.
Judson got their scoring started in the second quarter on a one yard reception by Grant Alexander Jr. from quarterback Marcus Freeman. That scoring drive was a workman 12 play drive resulting in the score. In the two minute drill, Freeman found Zach Megee for an 85-yard touchdown.
While the Eagles could not fully crack into the St. Xavier lead, there were some bright spots from JU.
Quarterback Marcus Freeman went 23-44 for 280 yards, and two touchdown passes.
In the second half, arguably the Eagles best running efforts, Tyler Johnson ran for 18 carries, good for 93 yards and two touchdowns. In the third quarter, the Eagles scored from 5-yards out on with Johnson, and in the final frame, Johnson found the endzone again for 1pm.
On this day, the final score was St. Xavier 50, Judson 31.
Also having a nice stat line for the Eagles was Zach Mcgee with 8 catches, 160 yards, and a touchdown. Mcgee was on the other end of the 85-yard pass play.
One of the seniors recognized before the game was Grant Alexander Jr., who had a fabulous last two season. Today, Alexander had 9 catches for 75 yards and a touchdown.
On the defensive side, Bryden Miller and Avrian Gilbert led the Eagles with six tackles each. With 338 total yards, the Eagles were able to move the ball, won the middle two quarters, but ultimately could not come up with enough stops on defense.
The senior who were recognized pregame were: Andre Hawkins, Caleb Davis, Mario Combs, Dimitri Kelly, Ayaan Abrar, Cassidy Whitaker, Nick Curry, Jordan Sorenson, Stanley Hyppolite, Jeremiah Smith, and Grant Alexander Jr.
Judson's final two games of the season will take place on the road at Marian, and at Saint Francis Indiana.
