Eagles Offense Powers DH Sweep
Elgin, IL - The Eagles put together a strong all-around day at Hoffer Field, sweeping a doubleheader from Trinity Christian with wins of 9-8 and 11-8.
In game one, Judson jumped out early with a pair of four-run innings in the second and third to build an 8-0 lead. Alex Wickett powered the offense with a home run and four RBIs, while Austin Stone also went deep and drove in two.
JU did get a bit of a scare, as after being up 8-0, Trinity rallied to make it 8-7 to make things interesting, but the Eagles held on late.
Yasiel Trinidad earned the win with six innings of work, and Nate Ross shut the door with the save to secure the 9-8 victory.
Game two saw more offensive firepower from Judson, as the Eagles collected 14 hits on the way to an 11-8 win. Kevin Flores led the charge with three hits, including a leadoff home run, while Allan Navarro added four hits and two RBIs.
After Trinity Christian surged ahead with a seven-run fifth inning, the Eagles responded immediately. Judson plated five runs across the fifth and sixth innings, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Diego Munoz that gave the Eagles the lead for good.
Carson Klausing picked up the win in relief, tossing two scoreless innings to close things out. It is is first win of the season.
With the sweep, the Eagles continue to build momentum in conference play, showing resilience and timely hitting in both contests. With the regular season winding down, Judson is posed to make some more noise in the conference tournament coming up.
Weather permitting, the two teams will finish the series with two games at TCC on Saturday.
