Eagles Sweep Double Header
Elgin, IL – After a wild week of weather that saw games on Wednesday postponed, and weekend games moving locations, the Judson Eagles continued their dominant start through conference play on Friday, sweeping Viterbo in a doubleheader to remain unbeaten at 6-0 in league action. The games were originally scheduled to be played at Viterbo, but due to weather, the weekend set was moved to Hoffer Field with JU technically being the visiting team on the scoreboard.
Judson took control early in game one and never looked back, erupting for a 14-4 victory behind a relentless offensive attack. The Eagles plated two runs in the first before breaking the game open with a five-run fourth inning.
The lineup produced up and down the order, with Alex Wickett leading the way with three hits and three RBI, while Carson Hubert and Matt Armstrong each drove in two runs. Kevin Flores added a multi-hit performance with two RBI, helping power a 12-hit effort for the Eagles.
On the mound, Yasiel Trinidad picked up the win, going 5.1 innings while striking out six. Jake Tyler closed the door out of the bullpen as Judson secured the opener comfortably. Trinidad is now 4-0 on the mound this season.
Game two featured a different script, but the same result, as the Eagles relied on pitching and timely hitting in a 3-0 shutout.
Judson struck quickly in the first inning, scoring all three runs of the game. Kevin Flores delivered an RBI single, Kyle Schwartz added a run with aggressive base running, and Alex Wickett drove in another to give the Eagles an early cushion they would not relinquish.
From there, Owen Wanner took over. The right-hander was dominant, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits and striking out four to earn the win. With the win, Wanner is now 4-2 on the season.
Blake Stempowski led the offense in game two with three hits, while the Eagles played clean, error-free baseball behind their pitching staff.
With the sweep, Judson improves to 6-0 in conference play and continues to build momentum heading deeper into the schedule.
On Saturday, the same two teams will play two more games at Hoffer Field to complete the road series for the Eagles.
