[Athletics] Fields of Faith Coming to Judson University

Elgin, IL. - A new event will take place on the campus of Judson University on Wednesday, October 8^th, when Fields of Faith comes to the Judson Softball Field. Fields of Faith will take place at 7:30 p.m. and is a partner of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Speaking to the students will be former Ohio State football player Joel Penton and leading worship will be the band "The Least of These."

Elgin, Ill.- A new tradition is being started at the 2008 Judson University Homecoming as the Judson cross country teams will be hosting a Fun Run and 5K for the public on Saturday, September 27th. The money raised from the event will help the Judson University cross country program.

Elgin, Ill.- In her first collegiate action of the year for the Judson University women's soccer team, freshman Ashley Williams (Huntley, IL) was voted the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week. She had two goals and one assist in two matches played.

Elgin, Ill.- Playing only one match in goal, junior Cristiano Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) was named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Defensive Player of the Week. Judson defeated Grand View College, 3-1.

Elgin, Ill. - Running out of steam in game four, Judson University (0-5/9-1)) fell to Cardinal Stritch University (2-4/1-1), 3-1 (22-15,25-21,24-26,12-25), in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match. Judson played the first three games close, winning game two, but did not have enough energy left in game four as they fell, 25-12.

Des Moines, Iowa - A heart breaker of a match took place in Iowa as #10 Graceland University just slipped by Judson University (1-1) with a 2-1 win in overtime. For 80 minutes of the match, the score was tied 0-0 before both teams scored in the final nine minutes of the match. Graceland ended the game just four minutes into overtime for the win.

Elgin, IL - With a depleted roster due to injuries, the Judson University Eagles (0-4) fell twice in their own tournament to Michigan-Dearborn (2-2) and St. Francis (IN). Four of Judson's players were on the bench due to injuries as head coach Craig Vlietstra played everybody he had.

Des Moines, Iowa - Diego Cevallos and freshman Ashley Williams both opened up their collegiate careers with a bang as Judson University shut out Grand View College, 3-0, in the first match of the 2008 season. In his coaching debut, Cevallos picked up his first collegiate win. Williams, from Huntley, Ill., scored her first collegiate goal to make it 3-0.

Elgin, Ill. - Kicking off the 2008 soccer season at the Judson University Soccer Classic, Judson fell to #18 McKendree University (Ill.), 1-0. McKendree picked up the lone goal in the first half and then held off Judson in the second for the win.
