Joining Judson for her first year as an assistant coach under Diego Cevallos is Katie Merva. She brings a load of talent in the soccer area as she played at NCAA Division III Denison University (OH). Due to an injury, she only played one year in goal for Denison. She continued to help the team as an assistant coach as the Big Red went to three NCAA Division III National Tournaments in 2005, 2006, and 2007. The 2005 team advanced to the Elite Eight.

She graduated from Denison in 2008 with a bachelor's in Biology and Chemistry and is currently employed at Dundee-Crown High School as the Biology and Environmental Science teacher. She also helps the girl's soccer team at Dundee-Crown as the goal keeper coach.

Before heading off to Denison for her collegiate career, she had a stellar high school career at Dundee-Crown. She was a three-time team captain and named to the All-Area team three times, also. The four-year varsity starter also was named All-Conference twice. In club soccer she played for the Alliance F.C. and was the team captain. Her team won the 2001 IWSL A Division Championship. She also participated in the Olympic Development Program playing on the Minnesota '86 State Team (1998-2000) and the Illinois '86 State Team (2000-02).

She currently resides in West Dundee and is the daughter of Jim and Linda Merva.
