A two-time NAIA All-American and a three-time All-CCAC First-Team selection, Jesus Castro is in his first season as a student coach for Judson. He finished his career as the all-time leader in doubles (44) and triples (11), second all-time leading hitter in Judson history with 152 hits and runs scored (79), and third in RBI (77), batting average (.375) and at-bats (405). He was also a three-time selection for NAIA All-Region and NCCAA All-Region.
Last season, he batted .386 with 15 doubles and 33 RBI. In 19 games he had two or more hits with a 4-of-4 performance against Purdue-North Central for a career-high. He also collected a career-high five RBI against Indiana-Northwest. He added to his career two more home runs to finish with four as he had one against Grace College and Trinity Christian College.
Castro came to Judson after one year of play at Florida Memorial College where he was the “Rookie of the Year.” He played in 30 of the 50 games and hit .316 with 25 hits. He also had five doubles and 30 RBI.
He is the son of Raul and Maria Castro and is finishing up his degree in physical education. He is a 2003 graduate of American Senior High School where he was named Mr. Hustle all four years.
