Head coach Jim Cook begins his fourth season as the men’s basketball coach and his final year as the head coach.  He is currently both the head men's and women's coach but will hand over the men's program to Tony Tompkins for the 2008-09 season.

Last year, the Eagles had many challenges and finished 6-23 overall.  He produed three all-CCAC players in Justen Boyd, DeWayne Robinson, and Anthony Cawthorn.  In the 2005-06 season, the program saw a significant improvement as the team finished with 20 wins for the first time since the 1984-85 season. Cook led the Eagles to a 20-12 record and a second place finish in the conference standings. The squad advanced to the CCAC Tournament championship where it came up short against Cardinal Stritch, 82-70.

Cook will continue his dual-coaching role at Judson this year as he is also the head women’s basketball coach. He begins his third year in that position. In the 2005-06 season, he led both teams to 20-win seasons, marking the first time in the school’s history that the two programs have done that in the same year. Before the men’s championship game last year he led the women’s team to a CCAC Tournament championship which advanced the team to its sixth NAIA National Tournament appearance in 10 years. This also was historic as the two programs have never played for the conference championship in the same year.

Cook is no stranger to the Judson basketball programs as he was an assistant for three seasons under Tory Gum. Cook was actually instrumental in recruiting some of the players on this year’s squad. He was a part of the staff when the team finished in the Sweet 16 at the NAIA National Tournament.

Cook has done the majority of his coaching as the founder, director and coach of Team USA, an AAU organization. He has coached athletes as they compete in the highest level of competition during the summer months and then assists them in earning college scholarships. Along with coaching his AAU teams, Cook was a Dean’s Assistant in School District U46 for 12 years. Most recently he worked at Bartlett High School. During his tenure in U46, he had various coaching experiences including Head Boy’s Basketball Coach at Canton Middle School and Assistant Varsity Girl’s Basketball Coach at Larkin High School.

Cook graduated from Eisenhower High School in Decatur, Ill. He completed his collegiate athletic eligibility with an outstanding basketball career at both Shasta Community College in California and Carroll College in Montana. He eventually received his bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences at National Louis University in 2002 and finished up his Masters of Sports Management from Nova Southeastern University. Cook resides in Huntley with his wife Vicki.
