Rafa Heck Image
Assistant Coach
7th Season

Entering his fourth year as an assistant coach for both the Judson University men's and women's soccer program, Rafael Heck is a great addition to the staff having played for Judson for two years.  Heck has helped guide this program to continue to be one of the elite men's soccer teams in the nation.

With a rich history in soccer, Rafael Heck was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but he grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His relation with soccer started even before he was born. His dad, João Heck, is a former professional soccer player from Brazil. He played for "Bahia Esporte Clube" (1stDivision Team) for several years, and Rafa inherited that same level of talent.

Rafa has played soccer since his very young age, and he started playing for professional youth academies in Brazil at the age of ten. He had a dream to become a professional soccer player like his dad, but he decided to take another path a year before going pro. He recognized the difficulty of maintaining a professional soccer career in Brazil due to the large amounts of talent, and decided to pursue a college education instead. He went to college in Brazil for a few years before moving to the USA to play college soccer and finish school. He played two seasons for Oklahoma Baptist University before transferring to Judson to complete his college soccer career and education.

As a coach, Rafa has coached youth teams and soccer camps in many countries, including Brazil, Italy, Canada, and here in the United States. At the end of his college soccer career at Judson, he became the Eagle's Assistant Coach in the fall of 2011 for both the Men and Women's soccer programs.

He also currently coaches U9 and U10 girls with the Crystal Lake Force youth club in Crystal Lake, IL.  His previous coaching experience beyond his current roles include the following roles:

•Thunder Bay Chill – Thunder Bay, ON – Canada – Coach of Boys U-14 and a range of ages (U-6 to U-14) during the soccer camps.

•Agenzia Lemme Vasto Club – Vasto, Italy – Coach of Boys U-12 & U-14 (Beach Soccer)

•Beach Training – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Coach of Girls U-17 (Footvolley)

•Escolinha de Futebol Vinicius Alvarez – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Coach of Boys U-12 (Soccer)
