Just three years into the new lacrosse program at Judson University, A.J. Collier has established the foundation of a contender for the GRLC Division II championship.  During his second season of the program to be the best as his team won seven matches and improved the win total by six from the inaugural 2011 season.

Collier, who was voted the GRLC Division II "Coach of the Year in 2012, guided Judson to seven wins and brought the first awards to the program.  Seven players were voted onto the GRLC all-conference teams and three athletes finished in the top 20 in the nation in the MCLA Division II statistical categories.  His team also scored a combined 48 goals in two matches in one day in wins over Palmer Chiropractic and Cornell College.

The 2011 season brought Collier to starting his third lacrosse program in the last 10 years.  He guided Judson to their first-ever win on April 9th, 18-1, over Cornell College (IA).  His 2011 team competed strongly in every match and gained respect for their effort as a new program.

Collier was hired on November 29, 2009, to start Judson's men's lacrosse program.  He is no stranger to starting programs and turning them into contenders as he has done with both St. Viator High School and William Fremd High School's club teams.  Both programs are now competing as a pair of the top high school lacrosse programs in Illinois.

Prior to taking the position at Judson, he spent the past eight years as the general manager for the Saint Viator High School lacrosse club program. He started the program from beginning in 2001 and helped grow theprogram to the point of having a varsity, JV, and freshman teams.

His first program he started was the William Fremd High School program in 1996-97. Prior to that, he was the club president and played close defense and long stick midfield for the Fox Valley Men's Post Collegiate Club in the northwest suburbs, for four-years.

In college at Northern Illinois University, he was a three-year starter for the Northern Illinois Lacrosse Club team from 1992-95. He played close defense and long stick midfield.

Professionally, he has helped out with both of the professional lacrosse teams in Chicago. From 2006-08 he was the penalty box operator and time out coordinator for the NLL Chicago Shamrox (Indoor). He was also the time out coordinator and a game operations manager for the MLL Chicago Machine (Field).

He currently works full-time for the Elk Grove Park District as a Superintendent of Recreation. He has been named the IPRA (Illinois Parks and Rec Association) Fitness Manager of the Year (2006) and the IPRA Professional of the Year (2009).

He is a 1995 graduate of Northern Illinois University. Coach Collier resides in Hanover Park, IL with his wife, Heather and their three boys, Andrew, Alex and Adam and their dog Yukon.
