Judson's women's tennis team had a long weekend on the road filled with close matches and tough losses. The weekend started in Chicago on Saturday morning against Robert Morris. Michaela De Long and Marisa Gauss (SR/Riverside, CA) put the points on the board for their wins in doubles and singles matches for the 3 points the women had in this tough matchup. After this match, the ladies team travelled to Indiana to face another conference rival, Calumet St. Joseph. The match proved to be one of their closest matches of the year. The match score was tied at 4-4 while Marisa Gauss battled against her opponent at the No. 4 singles spot. Their match went into the late evening and a third set to break the tie of each winning a set. Calumet St. Joseph grabbed that last point to secure the win 5-4 over the Lady Eagles. Michaela De Long and Megan Hunt (FR/Indianapolis, IN) received 1 point each for their singles wins and Kirstie Shales (SR/Elgin, IL) & Marcilyn Rowan, Michaela De Long & Marisa Gauss each added 1 point for their doubles wins. The women's team still had one more conference match to play on Sunday afternoon against Purdue Calumet. Purdue jumped out with a quick point in doubles, while Judson put 2 points on the board for their remaining doubles team wins by Marcilyn Rowan & Kristie Shales and Michaela De Long & Marisa Gauss. The match came down to some key singles matches that Purdue prevailed on while Kirstie Shales took the only singles win for Judson in this match. This was a very long weekend for the ladies while facing some tough competition. The results definitely do not indicate how close some of these matches were and how tough our Lady Eagles battled. Michaela De Long grabbed 4 points between her singles and doubles wins this weekend, while Kirstie Shales and Marisa Gauss grabbed 3 points in their singles and doubles matches over the weekend. This weekend closes out the regular season for their team now they will be preparing for the conference tournament in one week.

Judson Men's Tennis closes out their conference season with a close loss against Calumet St. Joseph and a sweep over Purdue Calumet. Isriz Balase (JR/Schaumburg, IL), Tyler Kerley (JR/Benton, Ill.), Andrew Moment (SR/Yorkville, IL) and Jon Moment all come away with 3 wins over the weekend. Judson men's tennis travelled to Indiana to face conference opponent, Calumet St. Joseph on Saturday afternoon. It was an extremely close match and came down to 2 matches that lasted almost 3 hours. Judson went into the final matches down 3-4 with Andrew Moment and Isriz Balase still on the courts. It was an all out fight to see who would grab that next point to either secure the win for Calumet or the tie for Judson. Andrew Moment's match started at one location and was moved to another location due to darkness. The short break gave him that needed energy to come back from losing his 1st set. The second set he found himself facing 2 match points for the loss to Calumet, but still fighting, he took the second set in a tie breaker and went on to win the third set to bring Judson 4-4 in the match. While Moment was fighting for that 4th point, Isriz Balase was fighting just as hard for that win to clinch the win for the team. His match went to a tie breaker for the first set, and a tie breaker for the second set. He never gave up at any point in the match and this match truly could have gone either way. Balase proved his experience in this match while maintaining his integrity throughout the match. Calumet secured that last point for the match and they won the team match 5-4. Sunday's conference match was a sweep 9-0 for the men's tennis team against Purdue Calumet. This weekend of match's caps off their conference schedule and will travel to Rock Valley on Friday morning for an all senior lineup to close out their regular season before the conference tournament begins.
