WEIGHT TRAINING
Judson University has a specific year-round weight program that is designed specifically for baseball. It is organized and supervised by the coaching staff. The three segments (fall-season, off-season, and spring season) offer the athlete a balanced approach to weight training.
The year-round weight program places heavy emphasis on flexibility and conditioning, as well as, strength.
SPEED DEVELOPMENT
Research has demonstrated that speed can be developed by working on proper technique, increasing muscle strength, and by increasing flexibility. Speed equals stride length times stride frequency. Not everyone runs alike, but the basic mechanics should be the same. The speed development program contains drills that will help establish correct neuromuscular movement patterns.
AGILITY PROGRAM
Agility drills are an essential part of the Eagles baseball program. Agility is the ability to change direction while maintaining balance and control of ones body. This program allows players to change direction at a greater rate. This allows the player to have greater sense of physical awareness and control. Year-round emphasis is placed on drills that develop balance, quickness, and power. During the off-season, players are exposed to a 15-station agility routine that includes hurdle jumps, medicine ball drills, cone drills, hand-quickness drills, jump-rope, and box jumps.
