New Coach, New Era
Diego Cevallos made the best of his interim season as head coach and had the interim removed from his name in January 2009. In his season as the interim coach, he guided Judson to a 7-11-1 record and was 4-5 in the CCAC. He played a very tough schedule and had to replace several key players from the 2007 CCAC Tournament Championship team. Since being named the head coach, he has been recruiting several new players to help Judson make a run for another CCAC Championship and to the NAIA National Tournament.

Tough Schedule
Judson played one of the toughest schedules in the NAIA as they finished playing nine teams that at one point were either receiving votes or nationally ranked in the NAIA. The highest team was Trinity Christian at #8 who went to the NAIA Final Four. Teams Judson played that were nationally ranked at one point in the season were Graceland (7), Trinity International (24), Olivet Nazarene (25), Spring Arbor (19), and McKendree (16). Teams that at least received some votes were St. Xavier, Robert Morris College, and Mt. Vernon Nazarene.

NCAA Division I Victory
For the first time, ever, Judson defeated a NCAA Division I program in Houston Baptist University. In double overtime, Judson scored in the 109th minute to defeat Houston Baptist, 1-0, as Christina Thornton scored the winning goal. It was the first time that any Judson program had defeated a NCAA Division I program.

Thornton Breaks Record
Breaking one career record and tying another, Christina Thornton is now the all-time goals leader and is tied for career points. She finished the season with 20 goals which gave her 59 career goals to surpass Leslie Ferguson's 51 goals that was set during the 2000 season. Then, Thornton tied Ferguson's record for career points at 137. Thornton is now seventh overall in assist and also holds the single season record for goals and points.

Seniors
Judson had only two seniors in Rebecca O'Donnell and Amber Bocquin. These two players were four-year players for Judson and helped to build up the program. They guided Judson to their first-ever CCAC Tournament Championship and #1 seeding in the NAIA regional tournament in 2007.

NAIA All-American
For the third year in a row, Christina Thornton was named a NAIA All-American as she was on the honorable mention team. She is the first women's soccer player to be named to the NAIA All-American team three times.

NCCAA All-American / NCCAA All-Region

For the second year in a row, Christina Thornton was named to the NCCAA All-American First-Team. She was the lone selection from Judson. This was her second all-American award.

In the North Central Region, Judson had two player named to the team. Thornton and Emma Mugg received NCCAA North Central All-Region First-Team honors.

NCCAA National Player of the Week
Christina Thornton and Mackenzie Fowler both were voted the NCCAA National Player of the Week, once. Thornton received the award for the week of October 13th for four goals against St. Francis. Then, a week later, Fowler won the award for her defensive effort in the goal. She went 2-1 on the week with two shutouts.

CCAC Player of the Year
Christina Thornton becomes Judson's first-ever women's soccer player to earn the CCAC Player of the Year award. She finished in the top five in points and goals in the CCAC. Two years ago, as a freshman, she was named the CCAC Freshman of the Year.

CCAC Awards
Three players earned All-CCAC status as Christina Thornton was the lone player named to the all-CCAC First-Team. Emma Mugg and Lynsey McFarland were on the All-CCAC Honorable Mention team. It was the third time for Mugg to be named to an all-CCAC team and the first for McFarland.

CCAC Players of the Week
Three players also earned CCAC Player of the Week awards. Picking up Player of the Week awards, once each, were Christina Thornton, Ashley Williams, and Lynsey McFarland.

Scholar-Athletes
Three players were named NAIA and NCCAA scholar-athletes in Janee Romesberg, Baerbel Hartner, and Amber Bocquin. It was the second year in a row that Bocquin was a scholar-athlete.

In the CCAC Statistics
Three players finished in the top five of the CCAC in different categories. Lynsey McFarland led the CCAC in assists with 0.63 per game. Christina Thornton was second in goals (1.05 pg) and third in points (2.26 pg). Mackenzie Fowler finished third in saves (6.05 pg) and fifth in goals against average (1.43).
