New Era With Tompkins
After a year of being the associate head coach, Tony Tompkins took over the men's basketball team for the 2008-09 season. Tompkins spent one year as the associate head coach in 2007-08 as Jim Cook finished his tenure as both men's and women's head coach. Cook then took over just the women's basketball program in the 2008-09 season.

In Tompkins first season, he produced the second most wins in school history (21), broke the school record for consecutive wins, and won another CCAC regular season championship. Overall as a coach, he now has had five 20-win seasons and won three regular season championships. Prior to coming to Judson he was the head coach at Missouri Baptist where he was 110-47. He has now won 131 career games.

CCAC Champions
Winning back-to-back CCAC regular season championships, Judson tied with Trinity Christian College and Cardinal Stritch with a record of 10-2. It was a repeat for Judson as they won the 2007-08 championship out right. The 2008-09 championship was only the second, ever, conference championship for Judson.

School Record Winning Streak
Judson recorded a school record nine-game winning streak to break the seven-game winning streak that was set in the 2007-08 season. Judson started their run on March 28th with a 73-58 win over Calumet College. The winning streak stretched for almost a month with their ninth win in a row coming on February 23rd against Purdue-North Central, 92-72. In that stretch, Judson defeated both #25 Trinity Christian College and Cardinal Stritch on the road. The streak came to an end in the CCAC Tournament semi-final game at the Lindner Fitness Center when Trinity Christian won 91-79 to move onto the CCAC Championship game.

Big Wins

In the schools nine-game winning streak, Judson picked up two huge wins. Judson defeated nationally ranked Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Ill., and then took an 84-80 win in Milwaukee, Wis., over Cardinal Stritch. Cardinal Stritch was receiving votes in the national poll at the time of the game.

Tough Schedule
Setting up a tough schedule for Judson, head coach Tony Tompkins knew what he was doing in preparing his team for the CCAC. Judson played three teams that were nationally ranked and two others that were receiving votes. Judson played #2 Bethel College (IN), twice, NAIA Division I Robert Morris (#16), and #25 Trinity Christian College. Teams that were receiving votes were Cardinal Stritch and Ohio Dominican.

Along with the NAIA schools, Judson faced three NCAA Division III programs in Northwestern College (MN), Wisconsin-River Falls, and Hope College. Against Hope College, on the road, Judson faced a crowd of over 2,300 fans.

Winning 21 Games
The 21 wins that Judson produced for the 2008-09 season was the second most in school history. They were just three wins from the 24 wins in the 1983-84 season. Judson surpassed the 19 wins from the 2007-08, 2001-02, and 1968-69 seasons.
