HALL OF FAME 2003Also graduating in 1976 was Judson’s baseball standout Reggie Smith. Smith, who also lettered in soccer for three years, was named NIIC All-Conference all four years of his baseball career. In 1972-73, he posted a 5-1 record on the mound and led his team with a 2.13 ERA. The Most Valuable Player and team captain on the 1975 baseball team, Smith led his team with 27 RBI and five homeruns. He also won a team-high seven games as a pitcher. As a senior, Smith excelled on both the baseball and men’s soccer teams. He was a member of the 1975 NCCAA National Tournament team in which he earned All-Tournament honors. He was also recognized on the NIIC All-Conference Second Team and the NAIA All-District Team. In baseball, Smith struck out 92 batters, the program’s single-season high and he pitched the program’s only no hitter this year. Again the team’s MVP and captain, Smith led the squad with a .415 batting average and 2.71 ERA. He ranks first all-time with 72 career RBI, seven career triples, 19 career wins and 242 strikeouts. Smith shared Judson’s 1975-76 Male Athlete of the Year honors with Tom Randall.
