Only playing two years at Judson, Miriam (Holmes) Bates made an impact on the women's basketball program and is the only two-time NAIA All-American. The two-time NAIA All-American for Tory Gum led the team in assists, steals, and three-point field goals made both years. She finished her two-year career with 843 points and is in Judson's all-time top 10 in four different categories. She is second all-time in three-point percentage (41.1%), fifth in free throw line percentage (74.3%), sixth in three-point field goals made (117), and seventh in career points per game (14.1 ppg). In her first season (1996-97), she earned the NCCAA Regional Player of the Year award along with being named to the NAIA All-Sectional team. She led her team in assists (117), three-point field goals made (64), steals (58), and three-point field goal percentage (40.3%). The three-point field goals made (4th) and three-point field goal percentage (6th) made the Judson single season top 10. Named the 1997-98 Judson Female Athlete of the Year as a senior, she compiled 132 assists, made 53 three-pointers (7th in single season), recorded 103 steals (3rd in single season), and sank 42.1 % (4th in single season) of her three-pointers shot. In this season, too, she collected 457 points for eighth all-time in a single season while making 170 field goals (10th in a single season). She was the first Judson women's basketball player to earn NCCAA All-American first-team and NCCAA Region Player of the Year. She also earned the team's most valuable player award and All-CCAC first-team. She also helped Judson to 35 wins in two seasons.
