CCAC Championships - Women's Basketball

The Judson University women's basketball program has won a combined six CCAC Championships.  They have won four regular season titles and two tournament titles.  Judson won regular season championships in 1998-99, 1999-2000, 2000-01, and 2004-05.  They then captured CCAC Tournament Championships in 2000-01 and 2005-06.

 

1999

CCAC Freshman of the Year: Shawna Jensen

Winning the programs first-ever CCAC Championship, Judson won the 1998-99 regular season championship.  After falling in the CCAC semi-final match, Judson had to face tournament champion CardinalStritch for a berth to the tourney and were victorious on the road, 52-48, in the NAIA regional championship. With their best NAIA Tournament finish to date, Judson advanced to the Elite Eight defeating Urbana (66-60) and St. Thomas Aquinas (64-54). This dream season came to an end with a loss to Central Methodist, 77-58, in the Elite Eight.


 

2000

Winning their second straight CCAC regular season championship, Judson won 20 games and went 5-5 in the CCAC for the championship.


 

2001

Judson won both the CCAC regular season and tournament titles together for the first-time ever in the history of the program.  It was also their third straight CCAC regular season championship.  Judson went 9-1 in the regular season and then won tournament games over Trinity Christian, 72-67, and Cardinal Stritch, 60-50, for the championship.  They then went to their third NAIA National Tournament where they finished in the Sweet 16.  Judson also finished ranked #21 in the NAIA final poll.

      

     

2005

Winning the program's fourth CCAC regular season title in seven years, Judson went 7-1 in the CCAC tying Cardinal Stritch.  Judson also made their fifth appearance in nine years in the NAIA National Tournament after receiving an at-large bid. In the final regular season NAIA National Poll, Judson had a #20 national ranking, Judson went on to upset William Jewell, 76-74, in the opening round of the NAIA National Tournament advancing to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in program history. Judson bowed out to Bethel College (IN), 74-60, in the Sweet 16 game.


     

2006

All-CCAC: Sara Brendemuehl (1st), Kim Watson (1st), Anita Nelson (H.M.)

Judson won the program's sixth overall CCAC Conference Championship with a tournament championship in 2006.  Judson defeated Trinity Christian, 72-51, and then upset Cardinal Stritch, 68-50, for the championship earning an automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament.  This automatic bid was their sixth appearance in 10 years, In the NAIA National Touranment, Judson fell in the first round to eventual national champion Hastings College, 70-43.
