A former NCAA Division I player and CCAC head coach is coming to Judson University as the new volleyball coach. Jill Rokosik, who has been in the CCAC the past six years, has been named the new head volleyball coach by interim Director of Athletics Tony Tompkins.
"Jill has the skills and leadership to shape the Judson volleyball program into a top 25 team," says Tompkins. "She has proven this already as a head coach in the CCAC winning a conference championship at Trinity International. Judson is blessed to receive such a coach of her caliber to lead and mentor the women on the team. I am excited for the future of the Judson volleyball program."
Rokosik has been a part of a CCAC program the past six years, five as a head coach. She is coming to Judson after a season of being an assistant coach at Olivet Nazarene University where they went 28-13, won the CCAC regular season championship, and hosted a NAIA Opening Round Tournament match.
Prior to Olivet Nazarene, Rokosik spent five years at Trinity International University where she went 95-103 with a CCAC regular season co-championship and was the 2006 CCAC "Coach of the Year." In five years, she produced 13 All-CCAC players, 10 NAIA scholar-athletes, four NCCAA All-Americans, and one NAIA All-American. She also took two of her teams to the NCCAA National Tournament where her best finish was fifth in 2006.
Posting three 20-win seasons, Rokosik went 29-21 in five seasons in the CCAC. In her first season at Trinity International, her team went 24-19 and 9-1 in the CCAC tying Olivet Nazarene for the regular season championship. She also won 20 matches in 2009 and 25 in 2010. She had winning seasons in the CCAC four of her five seasons finishing in fourth in 2008 and 2010. In 2006, after being named the CCAC "Coach of the Year," she produced the CCAC "Player and Freshman of the Year." In 2010, she earned the NCCAA North Central Region "Coach of the Year" as she took her team to the NCCAA National Tournament for the second time in five years. Her team also defeated Olivet Nazarene to deny them an outright CCAC regular season championship.
Taking on administrative duties at Trinity International as an assistant athletic director, she overlooked athletic staff, was the athletic insurance coordinator, and the school's representative to the NCCAA. With a heart for ministry and mentoring, she had her players serve with such organizations as the Sunshine Gospel Ministry, local nursing homes and food bank, and Feed My Starving Children. She also helped to organize mission trip opportunities for the team and athletic department. In 2010-11, she was on the AVCA/NAIA head coach's committee and was the NCCAA regional volleyball chair.
After graduating from Florida International University in 2001 with a degree in accounting, she started her career as a campus minister at DePaul University. She worked for four years with the Gateway Collegiate Ministries program and ministered to the students at DePaul University.
As a player, Rokosik spent five years at Florida International University. She played in 1995, 1996, 1998, and 1999 with a redshirt season in 1997. In those five years, she played against some of the top teams in NCAA Division I from the SEC, ACC, and other mid-major conferences.
Rokosik is currently working on her Master of Arts in Christian Studies at Trinity International University and is on pace to graduate in May 2012.
