Joel Popenfoose enters his third season as Head Coach of the Men’s & Women’s Track and Field program.  In his first two years the Eagles made significant progress toward rewriting the program’s record book, establishing 26 new records.  Judson athletes set records at the C.C.A.C. conference level and earned 4 NCCAA All American honors in Popenfoose’s first two seasons.  During the 2014 indoor campaign Judson celebrated its first ever NAIA Women’s Track & Field All American on the strength of Jordan Wagner’s 6th place finish in the Women’s 800 meter dash.

Eagle Track & Field athletes have also distinguished themselves in the classroom under Popenfoose’s leadership.  Cassandra Criminger was named the 2014 Judson Scholar Athlete of the year and the Women’s team was named an NAIA Scholar-Team during the 2013-2014 outdoor season.  In addition Eagle athletes have earned numerous awards on a national level including 6 Capital One Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete awards and 12 NCCAA Scholar Athlete the past two seasons.

Popenfoose is a long time resident of Huntley, founding Pastor of Westlake Community Church and Lead Pastor of Journey Church in Huntley.  He and his wife Kim have five children; Adam, Luke, Casey, Marcus, and Myra.  Adam is a U.S.M.C. veteran who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and a student finishing his college degree as is Myra.  Luke is in heaven.  Casey is a teacher and coach at Huntley High School and Marcus is a two time All American in track and field at Auburn University.  Marcus has recently joined the Judson Track & Field staff as Throws coach.
