Nies is a native to New York as he grew up in Jamesville, NY and attended Jamesville-DeWitt high school. Jared would go on to play four years of collegiate lacrosse at Messiah College in Grantham, PA, which is a NCAA Div. III school. Nies played out his career as a defenseman proving to be consistent and reliable. He was team captain and was also named to the Second Team All-Commonwealth squad his senior year. Nies would go on to become the graduate assistant for Messiah in 2013 and was the defensive coordinator and recruitment specialist. Jared has also been actively giving back to the sport he loves running numerous camps and coaching at the Annapolis Area Christian School in recent years.

“When we started our search for our next lacrosse coach we were looking for a candidate that fit the mission of Judson University but also had a great knowledge of the sport, we have definitely found that in Jared,” said Athletic Director Chad Gassman. “Jared comes from Syracuse, NY arguably one of the best regions in the country for lacrosse and has many connections in the lacrosse community.”

Men’s lacrosse was added to the Judson sports roster during the 2010-11 school year and in four seasons totaled a program record of 27-27, and 6-8 in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). In the four years the team broke records for program wins in 2012 (11-3, 3-1 MCLA), has had a number of all-conference players, and managed to clinch the 2013 NIU Fall Lacrosse Classic title. In March of 2014, the team landed on the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association's Division II Top 25 list for the first time. Nies will look to bring his East Coast lacrosse experience to the Midwest and continue similar program success from the past.
