
ELGIN, Ill. - Within two with under two minutes to go in the game, 81-79, Judson University (1-10) could not get the basket they needed to take the lead as College of the Ozarks (4-6) held on for the win, 87-81. Judson had a one-point lead, 51-50, with 13:40 left in the game when College of the Ozarks went on a 21-8 run over five minutes to take a 12-point lead, 71-59.
Four players from Judson scored in double figures as Landon Skinner had 23 points. Marious Lobdell had 17 and LeStan Hoskins had 10. Josh Weber had his first double-double of the year with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Jared Howerton had 17 points for College of the Ozarks.
Judson had early leads in the first half of three points but College of the Ozarks kept tying the game. In the first half there were 10 ties. With 1:41 left in the half, Skinner hit two free throws to give Judson a two-point lead, 40-38, only to see College of the Ozarks score the final four points of the half for a three-point lead, 43-40.
In the second half, Judson had two leads (44-43, 51-50) but each time College of the Ozarks countered with a run. The second time, when Judson was up 51-50, was the biggest run (21-8) that put the Bobcats in control.
Judson finished shooting 47% from the floor, 26% from three-point range, and 86% from the stripe. College of the Ozarks made 54% of their shots, was 50% from three-point range, and made only 67% of their free throws. College of the Ozarks also out rebounded Judson, 36-30. Judson only had 10 turnovers and forced 14 with seven steals and six blocks.
Judson will head to Joliet, Ill., on Saturday, December 5th, as they take on St. Francis (IL) at 7:30 p.m.
