#5 Judson 2, #8 Mid-America 0
KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Playing a very different game from the night before Judson University came out in control to win in the 2-0 victory over #8 Mid-America Christian. Eddie Philpot (Elgin, IL) shot the first one in for Judson from the top of the box amongst several Mid-America defenders in the 48th minute. A penalty kick from Gustavo Olivieria (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in the 69th minute increased the lead to 2-0.
Playing a very smart and disciplined game the Eagles came out strong and kept their composure throughout the game. It was a different feel for the men tonight as they were playing without three of their key players. Never the less the game was played to expectation and everyone picked up to fill in the holes left by these players.
Olivieria led the Eagles with seven shots on goal, with one penalty kick resulting for a goal. Sven Moeller (Germany) also had three shots with all of them on goal. Recording his 9th shutout of the season junior goalkeeper Alex Tyton (Elgin, IL) had three saves on the game with two in the first half. Although the fouls were fewer the Eagles still got into card trouble with three yellows spread throughout the game.
Leading Mid-America with two shots Andy Mendoza controlled their offense. Keeping his team in the match goalie Austin Custar recorded nine saves with seven coming in the first half.
The Eagles will play for the NCCAA National Title on Saturday. Judson has played in eight national championship matches winning five, this being their ninth national championship. Judson will play returning champions Indiana Wesleyan for the National Title on Saturday at 4:30pm central time.
