
ELGIN, Ill. - Former NFL football player Don Beebe will be speaking at Judson University on Saturday, January 16th in a fundraiser for the athletics department. Beebe will be speaking in the Lindner Fitness Center at 6:00 p.m. with the cost of the event $20 per ticket. The event will start at 6:00 p.m. with registration followed by an auction at 6:30 p.m. followed by Beebe speaking at 7:00 p.m. Beebe will be available after he speaks for interviews and autographs.
Beebe, who played in six Super Bowls and won a Super Bowl Championship with Green Bay, played in the NFL for nine years for the Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, and Green Bay Packers. He played with NFL Hall of Famer Jim Kelly and future Hall of Famer Brett Favre. In 1996, he was awarded the NFL's "Unsung Hero" award.
The first pick of the Buffalo Bills in the 1989 draft from Chadron State, he was a member of their team until 1994. In 1995, he was a member of the Carolina Panthers and then finished his career with two years at Green Bay (1996-97). He played in Super Bowls XXV, XXVI, XXVII, XXVIII with Buffalo and Super Bowls XXXI and XXXII with Green Bay. He won the Super Bowl Championship with Green Bay in Super Bowl XXXI.
He is widely known for his work ethic and not giving up on the playing field. One of the moments that fans remember Beebe for was in the Super Bowl for running down the Dallas Cowboy's Leon Lett and forcing a fumble at the goal line. That moment is in the ESPN's 100 top Super Bowl moments as #11.
He currently is the owner and chief executive officer of the Don Beebe House of Speed and the head football coach at Aurora Christian High School.
