BARRINGTON, Ill. - Judson University's five-year reign as CCAC Tournament Champions came to an end as Olivet Nazarene University took a 1-0 decision. Olivet Nazarene has now won the last three matchups against Judson, 1-0.
Olivet Nazarene went on the attack in the first half out shooting Judson, 8-4. In the first 11 minutes of the half, Olivet had four shots to Judson's one with three on goal. It was not until the eighth shot of the half that finally went in for the one-goal advantage. Judson's Alex Tyton batted the ball away but Nigel Dillard was in the right place as he caught Tyton out of position for the lone goal.
Judson's Sven Moeller finally got the first shot off in the 10th minute only to see it be saved by Olivet Nazarene's Kenny Huber. Judson only could get off three more shots in the first half with none of them on goal.
The offensive pressure came in the second half from Judson as they took 12 shots. In the 60th minute of the match it looked as though the advantage might go Judson's way as Olivet Nazarene's goalie Kenny Huber was red carded. This set up a free kick just outside of the box but Judson did not get a shot off through the wall of Olivet Nazarene defenders. Olivet Nazarene then played a man down the rest of the half.
In the next 30 minutes, Judson fired eight shots at new goalie Matt Walker. Walker responded by stopping all four shots on goal. Olivet Nazarene packed in their defense and Judson could not find a way to get the ball into the net.
Judson will now play in the NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association) Regional Tournament to try and earn a berth to the NCCAA National Tournament.
