ELGIN, Ill. - The final home match of the season for Judson University did not go the way the last four CCAC matches went as Illinois Tech (14-17/6-3) took the three sets for the win (25-17, 25-15, 27-25). Judson hit -.056 and had only 17 kills and 29 digs.
Judson honored four seniors in Deb Leganski (Elgin, IL/Elgin Larkin HS), Tracey Enzenbacher (St. Charles, IL/Elgin CC), Alesha Wyman (Delevan, WI/Trinity Christian College), and Danielle Dull (Waupun, WI/Central WI Christian HS). Leganski will leave Judson as the all-time digs leader and digs per game leader and owns two single season records. Dull will finish in seven categories in the career Judson top 10.
With a dismal offense, Judson did not have anybody in double digits for kills. Carissa Oelke (Oregon, IL/Oregon HS) had seven to lead the team. Courtney Martin (Eureka, IL/Eureka HS) had nine assists while Leganski had nine digs.
The match did not start off well for Judson as Illinois Tech took a 13-3 lead. Judson did come within seven, 18-11, but could not overcome the early deficit.
Game two started out differently as Judson had a 3-1 lead. Illinois Tech won nine of the next 12 points to take a 10-6 lead. Judson fought back to tie the game at 12 on an Oelke kill but once again Illinois Tech went on a run of seven straight points to take control of the game, 19-12. Judson did not get any momentum swings as it ended in a 25-15 loss.
The third game has been like most third games lately as the offense and enthusiasm kicks in. Judson jumped out to a 4-1 lead only to see Illinois Tech score nine of the next 11 points for a 10-6 advantage. Judson answered with a run of their own taking six of the next seven points for a 12-11 lead. Four of the points came off of Jaimie Pearson (Princeton, IL/Princeton HS) serves.
Illinois Tech did what they were good at by scoring six of the next seven points to post a 17-13 lead. They tried to keep their distance but Judson battled back to tie the match at 22. The match was then tied at 23, 24, and 25 before Illinois Tech's Melissa Cheviron ended the match on two straight kills.
