
ELGIN, Ill. - Vying for their first win in their final home match of the season in women's tennis, Judson University came up short in a 5-4 loss to Mt. Mary College. Judson was down 3-0 after doubles play and then took four out of six singles matches.
Winning for Judson in the #1 position was Danielle Sum with a 6-3, 7-5, win over Alyssa Davis. Kristen Kress took the #3 competition in a close three set match, 1-6, 6-2, 10-5, over Megan Herdman. She was followed by wins at #5 by Angela Schultz (7-5, 5-5 over Brittany Barker) and #6 Averi Kirchner (6-4, 6-7, 7-5 over Lisette Whitaker).
In doubles play, Sum and Boelter came up short in the #1 match, falling 9-7. Judson then fell in #2 doubles, 8-5, and #3 doubles, 8-4.
This is the first season for women's tennis in over 10 years for Judson University.
