JU 2, IIT 2 (2 OT) - Box

Chicago, Ill. - Coming away with a 2-2 tie in Chicago, the Judson University men's soccer team (11-4-3) tied Illinois Tech in double overtime in their final regular season game.  With the win, JU finishes one game ahead of four other CCAC teams for their 4th straight CCAC regular season championship.

Mark Howlett put Judson on the board first in the 30th minute with a penalty kick to make it 1-0.  IIT then tied the game with a controversial goal with five seconds left in the half as both teams entered the locker room.

The second half was just as rough as the first for both teams.  IIT went ahead, 2-1, in the 70th minute and held the lead until the final minute.  JU's Leonardo Silva scored the tying goal with 20 seconds left in the match when Vitor Bravo played a free kick into the box from 40-yards out.  During the process, though, JU goalie Neil Thompson came up to help in the box and was given a red card for a foul.

In overtime, JU played one man down with Kyle Selph in goal.  Selph made three great saves in both OTs to preserve the tie.

JU will now receive a first-round bye in the CCAC Tournament and then play in the CCAC semi-finals.  They also receive a first-round bye in the NAIA Region VII Tournament.

For the seniors, this is the fourth straight CCAC Championship that they have won.
