Judson 6, Calumet 3

ELGIN, Ill. - Giving Art Steuber his first collegiate win as a coach, the Judson University men's tennis team (1-0) came from behind for a 6-3 win over Calumet College. Calumet had a 2-1 lead after doubles before Judson rallied for the match win. The win is the first for Judson in men's tennis in over 10 years since the program was stopped in 1998.

 

After being down, 2-0, Adam Westhauser (Hartford, WI/Hartford HS) and Brent Nelson (Zumbro Falls, MN/Century HS) took an 8-2 win over Stephan McClain and Kyle Kocsis. Judson then swept five of the six singles matches for the win.

 

Scottie Patthana (Vientian, Laos/Elgin CC) took the #1 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Victor Villegas. Judson then won #2 with Sonesackit Siripanya (Elgin, IL/Elgin CC) , #3 with Nelson, #4 withThepkaysone Siripanya (Elgin, IL/Elgin CC), and #6 with Jesse Perez (Elgin, IL/Elgin Larkin HS).

 

Judson will travel to Iowa on Saturday, September 18th, to face St. Ambrose.
