Judson 3, Notre Dame College 1 - Box

ELGIN, Ill. - Continuing their success of playing against teams in the NAIA National Poll, Judson University came from behind for a 3-1 win over Notre Dame College (OH). Senior Christina Thornton (Algonquin, IL/Dundee Crown HS) provided two of the three goals for Judson (3-1-1).

In the latest NAIA National Poll, Notre Dame College was receiving votes with eight while Judson was just one vote behind them with seven. It is the first time that Judson has been mentioned in the NAIA National Poll.

Notre Dame's Ashley Rucker put the Falcons up 1-0 in the 36th minute but Judson came flying back just four minutes later when Thornton tied the game at one. Thornton took the ball from freshman Kamila Marchi (Brazil) for her fourth goal of the year.

After 17 scoreless minutes in the second half, Ashley Williams (Lake in the Hills, IL/Huntley HS) came through for the go-ahead goal. In the 63rd minute, her shot from 20 yards out in the middle bounced right over the goalies hands to break the tie. Thornton then added the third goal of the game in the 74th minute. The goal was set up by a cross shot from Lynsey McFarland (Scotland) and Angie Gonzalez (Harvard, IL/St. Mary's Univeristy).

Judson finished the game taking 24 shots to Notre Dame's six. Judson also had four corner kicks to two from Notre Dame. Judson's Mackenzie Fowler finished with four saves while Notre Dame's Emilie Lamarche had 13 saves.

Judson starts their CCAC schedule on Tuesday, September 15th, when they travel to #22 Olivet Nazarene for a 4:00 p.m. match.
