ELGIN, Ill. - In his first collegiate cross country meet, Judson University's Nate Nevius (Fremont, NE/Fremont HS) finished 36th and has now earned the NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association) National Runner of the Week. It is the first award of the year for the men's cross country team.
"Nate's race result is a direct result of the many hours he has put in the summer and the early preseason training. He has been a real leader both on and off the field," comments head cross country coach Rich Weinhandl.
In a 6K race, Nevius ran a 20:38 to finish in 36th out of 202 runners. His finish helped Judson to an eighth place finish out of 17 teams. His time of 20:38 was the fourth best NAIA time at the meet. With the team finish of eighth, Judson came in ahead of several NCAA Division III programs and other NAIA programs.
Judson will run this weekend, Saturday, September 12th, at the Northern Illinois University Invitational.
