ELGIN, Ill. - In front of a record crowd of over 300 people at the Lindner Fitness Center, the Judson University volleyball team (0-1) fell to Viterbo University (2-0), 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-21). It was the first home match of the season for Judson with three new starters in the lineup for their first-ever collegiate match.

Freshman Carissa Oelke (Oregon, IL/Oregon HS) led Judson with 16 kills in her first collegiate match and was followed by Karissa Groharing (Byron, IL/Byron HS) with six kills and three blocks. Also playing in her first collegiate match as a starter was Jaimie Pearson (Princeton, IL/Princeton HS). Senior Deb Leganski (Elgin, IL/Elgin Larkin HS) had 12 digs while junior Carly Campioni (Crystal Lake, IL/Crystal Lake South HS) recorded 19 assists.

Judson fell by seven points in game one, 25-18, but fought back in games two and three. Each game was tighter with Viterbo having to pull big plays in the end for the win.

Judson will travel to Dominican University on September 1st at 7:30 p.m. for their next match.
