ELGIN, IL. - Staying in contention for the CCAC Championship with a complete sweep of Robert Morris (29-17/10-14), Judson University (26-19/19-8) came from behind for two one-run wins. Judson won both games 7-6 and 4-3 in exciting fashion. Bret Ehrlich was the hero in game one with his second game winning hit of the year to win 7-6 and then Zach Williams hit in the winning run of the fifth inning in game two for the 4-3 win.

Now, with only three games left on their schedule, Judson is just two games behind St. Xavier. St. Xavier has six CCAC games left to play.

Ehrlich hit a clutch double to right center field as Manny Bobadilla scored from first base for the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Judson had tied the game at six in the bottom of the sixth and then had the game winning run in the seventh.

Heath Groves won his fifth game of the year with three strikeouts in a complete game as he walked no one. Ehrlich led the team with a 3-of-4 performance at the plate with three RBI. Chris Lucius also gave Judson three RBI on one hit with one run scored. Zach Scipione added a RBI, too.

In the bottom of the first, Judson took a 1-0 lead when Ehrlich singled in Fischer from second base for his first RBI of the game. Robert Morris then scored four unearned runs in the top of the third for a 4-1 lead. Judson scored another run in the third inning on Ehrlich's first double of the game scoring Fischer to make it 4-2. In the fourth inning, Judson took a 5-4 lead on 415 foot home run over left center field by Lucius.

Robert Morris regained a one-run lead, 6-5, in the fifth inning before Judson scored in the final two innings. In the sixth inning, after the first batter reached on a hit, Groves set up a double play and then struck out the next batter to end the inning. In the top of the seventh, the first two batters grounded out and then the third batter popped out to end the inning.

Once again, Judson had clutch hitting in the fourth and fifth innings to sweep the series, 4-3. A nasty pitching combination of Steffan Alinkas, John Banks, and Ed Draper did enough work to get Judson the win. Alinkas went three innings before Banks came on for three innings of relief work and the win (3-1). Draper came in after the first batter in the seventh inning reached base and retired the next three batters with two fly outs and one grounder for his second save of the season.

Seven different players had one hit as Kevin Fischer, Ehrlich, and Williams all had a double and Tim Victor recorded a triple.

Robert Morris scored early in the first inning for the 1-0 lead. They added two more in the third inning for the 3-0 lead. Judson then fought back with two runs in the fourth and in the fifth for the one-run lead.

In the fourth inning, Scipione singled to left field to score both Mike Krueger and McHenry on a hit and run with two outs. Then, in the fifth inning, Ehrlich picked up his fourth RBI of the day with a single up the middle to bring home Jake Bostwick and tie the game at three. Williams, the very next batter, facing a new Robert Morris pitcher in Garret Anderson, smacked a double to score Bobadilla. Bobadilla looked as though he would stay on third but the ball was misplayed in left field which let him be the winning run.

Banks had a strong outing in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings as he struck out two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and then struck out the side in the sixth inning.

Judson is now off until Saturday, May 2nd, when they take on Indiana-Northwest in a double header starting at 5:00 p.m.
